Silver Price Forecast: Bears Target $55

Silver Price Forecast: Bears Target $55

Last Updated on October 17, 2026 by Deon

Silver Price Remains Under Pressure

Silver prices are moving toward the end of the week with a tone after falling below the important $60.00 support level. The decline has pushed XAG/USD toward a low near $55.38 before the metal recovered slightly.

At the time of the analysis Silver was trading near $57.00 staying under pressure while sellers kept dominating short‑term price action. The loss of the $60.00 area has weakened the structure and raised the risk of another move lower.

The main level that traders are watching now is $55.00. A sustained break below this support could open the door to more losses.

Bearish Momentum Remains Strong

The technical picture still favors sellers. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is moving lower. Is approaching oversold territory.

An oversold RSI does not automatically mean that Silver must rebound. It simply shows that selling pressure is strong and momentum is stretched. Traders may therefore watch price action around support levels for signs of either continuation or stabilization.

For now the declining RSI supports the bearish setup. Unless Silver can recover resistance levels sellers may keep looking for rebound opportunities.

$55 Becomes the Key Support

The $55.00 level is the important downside area in the current setup. If XAG/USD breaks below $55.00 the next technical support is around $54.77, which is the year‑to‑date low. A move through that level would expose another support zone near $54.39.

The $54.39 level is also significant because it corresponds to a high that could now act as support.

A sustained break below these levels would raise the risk of a decline toward the $50.00 psychological level. That would represent another leg lower and would confirm that the recent correction has turned into a stronger bearish trend.

Silver Needs to Recover $59.37

Although the short‑term outlook remains bearish Silver could try to recover if buyers regain control.

The first important resistance is near $59.37, which matches the October 14 high. A move above this level would give a sign that selling pressure is weakening.

The next major hurdle is the $60.00 level. This area used to act as support so its recovery could be technically meaningful.

If Silver moves above $60.00 and holds there attention could turn to the 100‑day Simple Moving Average near $63.06. Above that the 50‑day SMA around $63.98 becomes the major resistance area.

A sustained move above both moving averages could improve the outlook and might bring $65.00 into focus.

What Could Drive the Next Silver Move?

Silver is influenced by factors, including the US Dollar, interest‑rate expectations Treasury yields, investment demand and industrial activity.

Because Silver is priced in US Dollars changes in the Dollar can significantly affect XAG/USD. A stronger Dollar can make dollar‑priced commodities more expensive for buyers and may weigh on prices.

Interest‑rate expectations are also important. Silver does not generate interest so changes in bond yields and monetary‑policy expectations can influence investor demand.

Industrial demand is another factor. Silver is widely used in electronics, solar technology and other industrial applications. Changes in expectations especially in major manufacturing economies can therefore affect Silvers longer‑term outlook.

Outlook

The near‑term Silver price forecast remains bearish as XAG/USD trades near $57.00 after falling from above $60.00. The approach toward territory on the RSI could eventually encourage a technical rebound but it does not yet confirm a reversal.

For bears the main objective is a break, below $55.00. Such a move could expose $54.77, $54.39 and potentially $50.00.

For bulls reaching $59.37 would be the clear sign of a good start. If bulls can push the price back above $60.00 that would make the recovery look even stronger. After that traders should keep an eye on $63.06, $63.98 and eventually $65.00.

Overall Silver is still at risk of losses unless buyers can push it back, above the key resistance zone around $59.37 to $60.00.
